No - its not a good idea, and not what I come to a forum like this for. IMHO Supplier representaties should only be allowed on the forum to answer specific support questions relating to their own products. They should not be allowed to "sell" the merits of their own product, or the demerits of the competition! The one exception I would make to this rule is that they must be allowed to respond to a factually incorrect statement made about their product by another forum member, with a statement of fact, not opinion. (A bit strong perhaps, but I have seen it work on other forums).
I find the whole "mine's netter than yours" debate totally tiresome

. I bought my SBS when there was no competition, and paid a higher price as a result. But it does what I want it to. I like the fact that I can use add-ons to customise my "exerience", and to try different things and change them when I want. I want know what is flying about near me, now, not what was flying over Lithuania five minutes ago, so I am not intersted in sharing data. So the SBS meets my needs. On the other hand I am absolutely certain that there are folks out there, with different needs, for whom the RB is better choice - and that's great, good luck to them and Airnav, competition feeds development, drives down costs and benefits all of us.
The point is, any purchasing decision is a personal one, based on personal needs, and should ideally be made following a thorough appraisal of both products, including demonstrations from suppliers. The forum is neither the place, nor the audience, for the suppliers to sell their products. Most of us, having already bought one (or possibly both) of the offerings already, are not in the market anyway.
Lets make this forum a place of rational, sensible, informed, respectful, and mutually benficial conversation.
Thanks,
John.
