I have the following problem:
I have just replaced my 150gb hard drive with a new 500gb due to space problems, using Acronis True image I succesfully cloned my old drive onto the new and all works well, however when I look in Windows XP under Administrarive tools/Computer management I see the following

My query is how do I get disk 0 to recognise the unknown partition so that I can use the spare 319gb ?
I am a non techie so simple easy to read instructions would be appreciated Smiley

Cheers

Try this (it's a while since I've done this myself):

1. Right click the Unknown Partition, and select Delete Volume.
2. Right click the C: Partition, and select Extend Volume.

Might be worth doing a backup beforehand!!

Or alternatively, if you want it as a separate drive, just format the Unknown Partition.

Thanks for the info

If I right click on both C: and the unknown partition I get the following options

I could delete the partition but there doesn't appear to be an option to extend volume ? or if I did delete the partition would the C: then show as Mark partition as active an option ?
I wouldn't mind using the unknown section as a new drive but the format drive option is also greyed out

Cheers

1. Right click the Unknown Partition, and select Delete Volume.
2. Right click the C: Partition, and select Extend Volume.

Okay, I should have said Delete Partition.  Once you've done that, you should be able to extend the C:  or format a new volume.
