I've posted on the PP Yahoo Group to ask if it's available and where from.  Strange that PP now supports something that may not be available?

Bev at PP says this is a design for others to follow and build their own receiver.

So, apparently it isn't available to purchase as a complete solution.

Bev wrapped my knuckles for querying why PP was supporting a product that wasn't available to purchase.  He likens it to the SBS-1 and ANRB.

Lost me a bit there, but that's not too difficult.  Embarrassed

Well, a good reason to support this kind of project is that it demystifies the whole subject, providing clear explanations of what is happening in the receiver and how it interfaces with the software used to decode and display the Mode S data.

Once you have enough non-commercial projects providing the needed kit then it makes any attempt to limit the spread of the data and any networks that get built up next to impossible, you can't put the genie back in the bottle.

Looks interesting, what I'll really be looking out for is the software becoming part of an open source project so it can be contributed to by many people from around the world and hence become available on more than just the one platform, namely Windows.

I have found a source in Europe. Somebody who knows the local language will call the dealer and ask for availibilty and price. The price listed is not that high, about 20$ exc VAT.

It seems to be a popular module from the mid 90s. It should present in many older SAT receivers. There are alternative manufacturers.

The modules were not available anymore. I keep on searching.
