Roger

How can you assume that will be the case Roger?

I took it to mean that the basic, standard package price of hardware, software & probably base antenna as described will be held at ?299 as stated which is considerably lower than the competition

Now there may be different packages with different features, bolt-ons, different hardware configurations, better antennas etc. and they would obviously cost more but may have added value over buying those same items individually so to speak.

So there may not be more to pay if all you want is the basic or STANDARD package!

Just my 2c worth...

Hi

The product described in our preview page is our standard receiver, we have been asked by several companies and government departments for specialist versions of our receiver, these are  NON standard and therefore more expensive.

Any of these specialist versions of your receiver have an integrated/embedded PoE port Michael?

<ducking>

I would like to know what some of these specialist versions have over & above the standard receiver?

Can you give any details away or are you sworn to secrecy? ;^)

Thanks & regards,

Hi

At present we are concentrating on introducing our Virtual Radar 3D to compete with the existing products i.e. Radarbox/SBS-1.
However our SSRx Receiver has been designed to be upgradable, either by firmware or external modules (i.e. Ethernet/USB Mini Server).
You will need to wait until these are announced for details.

At present the NON standard receivers would be based on the same receiver (SSRx) that is supplied with our Virtual Radar 3D but with custom firmware installed.
As to the features of NON standard receiver, if you look at the various forums you will see there is a lot of data transmitted by aircraft (at 1090MHz) that either cannot be decoded by our competitors or for commercial reasons are  blocked. So there are lots of interesting possibilities.

We have been designing custom products since 1993, so there is no real limit to what a custom receiver could contain (High accurate MLat / MODE-AC / DME / GPS / Ethernet / Wifi / 3G Internet / etc).

There is no reason for <ducking>  for mentioning embedded ethernet ( PoE ).
We always listen to any requests or suggestions for either product improvements or future products.

However the reason we decided against embedded Ethernet was to keep the cost below ?300.
We also didn't want to have customers who have bought our ?299 Virtual Radar 3D having to buy a complete new receiver if they wanted to upgrade to Ethernet.
Therefore we have decided to have an external interface module.

Hi Michael,

Will the production SSRx box differ from the pre-production SSRx shown on the website and will the software be available for download before shipment?
A demo mode perhaps?

Thanks,

Hi Mike

Our production SSRx case is the same as in the photos.

At present we are not planning to releasing a demo version, however that may change in the future.

We are considering adding Mode-AC to our standard SSRx, you will need to wait for the the full feature list.

Mode-C is not worth looking at. I have it here. It is like

7146
6607
1003
4143
5643
7712
0102

It doesn't tell anything, but there are planes around (maybe different in conjunction with Mlat capability)

Hi junglejet

In general I would agree with you.

However we have been asked and we already have it working so we are considering whether to include it as standard.

mode a-c
it would be very nice. When you are at an  airport looking for aircrafts you see only the mode s or adsb but not all have all of them and in the middle (see an aproach sequence) you miss aircrafts and should be good to see even a 6756 or replace it by an small circle as well

Hi
We have not made any progress in the last few weeks, as we have been carrying out work for an  existing customer (The design consultancy part of the business).
Once that work is completed we will be manufacturing our first full production batch of Virtual Radar 3D receivers.

Part of the reason we have been in business since 1993 is supporting existing customers, even at the expense of getting new customers.

This and the upgraded receiver hardware has delayed the introduction of the Virtual Radar 3D significantly longer that we had expected.

I will announce a release date as soon as I can.
