A bunch of us ham radio freaks here in Milano will be looking into these designs soon.  That is not a complete receiver, just the frontend, though, so some more blocks need to be built in order to make it work.

Cheaper ADS-B reception is definitely going to be available in 2010!

There are a couple of people (Australia, Germany, Italy) who can't wait to do the missing bits, you won't have to wait for too long. The kit is planned to be out by 15 February if tests work well.

Shall we start reserving the kit.....

There is no need for reservations. I have enough PCBs on stock and parts on order.

Great, the 2010 battle of ADBS receivers is just starting :-) thanks to a collective effort and perhaps an open source software drive.

Homebrew miniADSB in airport vicinity operation. Note the quarter wavelength antenna. From inside an office building surrounded by factory halls. Total costs 10$+kit.

Nice miniADSB. Where did you get it from? Is the detailed Globe-S Panorama overlay from PlanePlotter or BaseStation?
Very sensitive from inside an office.

miniADSB is available from http://www.miniadsb.com as a kit for advanced soldering experts.
The software is homebrew. The outlines file format is Basestation compatible.
