The SBS-1 is unique in that it can be networked using TCP/IP, both locally and remotely.

It is also possible to setup a private MMS server.

There is a new Guide in the Downloads which describes some of the networking opportunities and also explains how to create a private MMS network.

As usual the Guide isn't meant to be an endorsement or recommendation of the SBS-1.

Thanks Mike. It certainly looks a very comprehensive guide, although I have only skimmed through it, and I am sure it will help this newbie get even more out this wonderful hobby.

There's no real difference between the two.

One maybe silly question...to connect remote to an SBS-1 via MultiEM software must have a PC running BaseStation to the point where the SBS-1 is, as below?
SBS-1 ---> EM ---> PC(hosting) running BaseStation ----> MultiEM ----> internet <----- running MultiEM <---- running BaseStation <-----PC(remote)

Mike,
Do you know if the the basestation error window problem has been resolved with the MMS Server software yet?

Regards
Barry.

SBS-1 ---> EM ---> PC(hosting) running BaseStation ----> MultiEM ----> internet <----- running MultiEM <---- running BaseStation <-----PC(remote)

This diagram may help?

The Multi-EM service is installed on only one PC (PC 1).  It connects to the IP address of the local SBS-1, in this example 192.168.1.170:10001.  All Basestation processes (PC 1 and PC 2) access the SBS-1 via the single Multi-EM service. So the datainterface for each local PC is the IP address of the PC running Multi-EM, in this example 192.168.1.3:20060.

The datainterface for a remote Basestation (PC 3) is the public IP address of the network running the Multi-EM, in this example 208.80.193.41:20060.  To allow remote access to the Multi-EM, the local user must setup port forwarding to accept incoming calls for port 20060 and forward them to the local PC running Multi-EM, 192.168.1.3.

I hope this helps.  If it does, I'll update the Guide.

No Barry, error message remains.  As I mention in the Guide, it's a nuisance and best move it out of the way.  Don't close it as it will reappear!

Check the Basestation.ini file has been edited and it's the one (I think) in the Virtual Store?

Great guide, very well written.  Thanks for taking the time to put something like this together.

I seem to have a problem with my setup - I have BaseStation Software version 1.2.3.146, but when I make the changes you specify on page 29 to the BaseStation.ini file, the "MapModeS" menu still doesn't appear.

Is it possible I missed a step somewhere?
