Hi All
I live in glasgow 5 miles north of city, quite a few tower blocks around my area and even trees,i have a BS1105 antenna 40ft up strapped to the drain pipe and only just clear of the gutter i suppose it sort of faces south/south east,i see plenty aircraft localy on the SBS as the approach into and out of glasgow airport runs past my back window only about 500yards away, when i say localy its mainly all to the south for about 50 mile,i do see the very odd aircraft as far down as liverpool and north wales but to the west, northern ireland/ireland next to nothing,to the north of me only about 45NM and to the east and north east even less,i was thinking of moving the antenna from outside into the roof space thought i would get a better all round view,do you think i will make things worse or am i expecting to much,i have SBS-1E.
                          Cheers Terry.

Hi Terry

Try and figure out what is blocking signals from the east and north east (hills, tower block, chimney)?

Unless you can avoid the obstacle, moving the antenna may not produce any better results.

If you are living around the Milngavie or Torrance area then I think the problem could be the Campsies and the Kilpatrick hills causing your problems to the West, North and North East but I would have thought you would be getting pretty good response.

Thanks guys for your help and input ,i wasnt realy hopeing for to much after reading some of the previous posts it seems a bit of a grey area, something like give things a try and see what happens, thats what i will do just move the antenna around a bit and iff things get better ok, and iff not it can always go back to its original place.By the way ken you might be right about the Campsie/Kilpatrick hills they are about 10 miles North/North East of me,i live quite near to the river clyde in fact from my house you can see one of the new type45 destroyers at the bottom of the street being fitted out.
