One of our members (running Windows 7, 32 bit) is unable to download one of our Guides.  I have confirmed this by using remote connection with Teamviewer.  All the other Guides download without problem but when attempting to download this particular Guide, one is automatically logged out of Radarspotters.  No one else has reported this problem and others are downloading the Guide without difficulty.

If you are using Windows 7 (or any other operating system) could you help us try to identify the problem by downloading the Guide?  You don't have to actually download the file, just see if you are able to view or save it or if you get automatically logged out of Radarspotters.

A User's Guide to Operator Logos and Silhouettes

If you are automatically logged out of Radarspotters can you let us know here, together with your operating system and browser?  And if anyone has a suggestion as to what may be causing this, we're all ears.  Your help is much appreciated.

Hi Mike,
I'm using Windows 7 v6.1 64 bit version.
Both download and direct opening work fine with no effect on Radarspotters.

32 bit version seems ok i think

i got a PDF file
if thats correct it worked ok

he has a security setting somewhere stopping the download
could be anywhere
he has 2 different microsoft security programmes
within windows 7 before you add any third party virus protection

when you say he gets logged out
what do you mean Huh?

IE8 closes down or it just closes the radarspotters tab

try downloading it to his desktop -- then what gives

Thanks Keith.

What happens is as soon as the file is selected, the Radarspoters screen changes and tells him he has to be registered to download the file, as it does when a guest tries a download.  I've seen it myself when remotely connected and it's very strange. And only that one file out of all the UserGuides.

Definitely looks like a local setup issue but why automatically logout from Radarspotters?  Really odd.

sorry forgot to check this thread today

that begs the question is he logged in properly ??
also somewhere there is permission re type of file it could be the PDF bit is triggering
something

can one of you check one thing
when you click on file you want

please check in IE8 immediatly below the tool bar
is there a "pale yellow" bar with a message regarding downloading a file
or not as the case maybe??

we need to replicate this somehow to find the answer
as he wont be the last

other hassle of coarse is its probably an OEM version of 7
so heavens knows what they have done with that
could take a while to sort this one.
mine is from a full M/Soft DVD so that doesnt help to replicate it either

can you also check with Hamish that he has read this thread
if its a log-in issue he will either sort it or eliminate the possibilty

cheers

Hamish has read the thread and we have communicated directly about the problem.  I have seen it on the members' PC but cannot replicate it elsewhere.  Until it occurs elsehwere, it is being treated as a local issue.

try and have him install foxit instead of the usual  acrobat, so it manages the download for him and it may solve the problem maybe he has a botched installation. i had to install win 7 twice to get it right, same for vista and xp, sometimes they just don't work even if freshly installed. even if the memory is ok and the dvd works and the hdd works, i don't know why.
