It would be useful to be able to access the "alternative" RadarBox user location map from here, and also a Kinetic one, if they have such a thing.  Maybe someone could come up with a combined effort...

Hi Hamish

It was a map setup by one of the user's of the Airnav forum (Within Google Maps) to show the location of all the Airnav user's throughout the world. This was a very good idea, until someone got into the map and deleted everything in it.

I've been thinking about how we can find out how many sharers there are on the ANRB network. I noticed earlier that there were 899 aircraft on the network and I was receiving 89 live. So that's just about ten other users on the network. OK not all of them are receiving 89 aircraft, so say 30 aircraft each on average? That's still just about 30 people sharing.

Not sure why you need to think about it. When its all clear on our site.

http://www.airnavsystems.com/RadarBox/network.php

The bottom shows the network stats which shows the ADS-B aircraft tracked (Please note that, when your looking at your RB its only sharing the ADS-B aircraft) and the sharers as well.

The Airnav "map" only shows information derived from ISPs, and is pretty useless as many subscribers have ISPs in different areas to which the user is located, and in my case at least, a different country.  Unless their method of pinpointing users has changed, that is still the case.

Airnav know that there have been users concerns about this, there have been many posts on their site about it, but as usual they neither listen nor contribute anything useful, and argue the toss.

That's why a completely separate Google map was devised by one enterprising RadarBox user, and we all contributed to it.  And jolly useful it was, too, with each of us able to attach relevant comments to our own "flag".  I didn't know someone had spoilt it.  A shame.

Thats easy to do, and easy to intergrate into the forum where members can place their own flag and info / pics about themselvs directly on the map.

I will put it on my list of "TO DO" .. Its gettin long.

I want to know, at any given time, how many sharers there are online. I'd even like to know, as available in PlanePlotter, which sharers are seeing which aircraft. Your stats are for the previous 24 hours, as much use as the runway behind an aircraft on take-off.

That stats are updated every hour. So yes its showing the last 24 hours, but you just look at the time now and look at the graph, its not that hard.

So its not useless. We don't really see the point in showing what specfic aircraft a user is picking up. It does not really help things other than for stats.

I take it then that you are just a company rep and not actually interested in aircraft spotting, because if you were, you would know exactly why hour-old info on sharers is not much use to me.

But it is useful to now where other user's are around the world, I hope you did take a look at the map which was on google earth and it was all done by user input, which shows to me the user's do want sutch a map.

The above statment is very true and as it say's useless, as far as nowing where people are, because you cannot get people's location from isp address's. Could you please admit that this part of your network map is useless and no good.

I have seen on the Airnav Forum and on here I think, you tell the truth - now lets hear some truth

The map was never indented to show the exact locations. This is something that certain users dreamt of. We stated from the start on the map this is NOT accurate.

It was only made to give an Approximate display of locations around the world.

We get loads of emails saying, on your network what does it cover, and this was a nice way for us to say this is an approx locations and coverage on what you should see on the network, to protect customers privacy we are not showing the actual positions (we don't actually get them either).

We did say in our posts, in future with a software update we may be able to allow the exact position data to be sent. Since those posts we have not had a software update yet.
